CU News Corps

FUNDING

In 2017, we received a generous $2.5 million gift from Bill and Kathy Scripps to establish the Scripps CU News Corps Endowment. The gift guarantees that News Corps will a permanent and important part of the journalism curriculum for all undergraduates and many graduate students. It also means that News Corps students will be have the funding to pursue stories about some of the complex issues facing Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West using state of the art reporting and storytelling techniques.

Previous Gifts
The News Corps in 2013 received a two-year $100,000 gift from Bill and Kathy Scripps, CU parents and backers of several university initiatives. News Corps received another two-year gift for 2015-2016. The money helps pay for training, equipment and faculty support.

Bill Scripps is a great-grandson of newspaper publisher E.W. Scripps, founder of Scripps Howard Newspapers.
